Developer Marketplace is your one-stop shop for all assets that are made by Roblox and the Roblox community for the Roblox community, such as models, images, meshes, plugins, audio, and videos. If you need anything for your experience, this is the best place to look. You will likely find any asset you can think of, and if you can’t find it, you can create and publish it for others to use.

Accessing Marketplace

For easy access, Developer Marketplace is available both within Roblox Studio and on the Roblox site.

Via Roblox Studio

To access Developer Marketplace with Roblox Studio:

  1. Open an experience in Roblox Studio. If the Toolbox window is open, disregard step 2.
  2. Navigate to the View tab and select Toolbox. The Toolbox window displays.

You are now in the Marketplace tab of the Toolbox!

To access Developer Marketplace on the Roblox site:

  1. Navigate to Roblox.com.
  2. In the horizontal navigation, select the Create tab. The develop space displays.
  3. In the horizontal navigation of the develop space, select the Library tab.

You are now in the Developer Marketplace!

Finding Assets

With millions of assets available, it’s helpful to narrow the search results to find exactly what you are looking for.

Via Roblox Studio

To find assets with Roblox Studio:

  1. Follow the steps to access Developer Marketplace.
  2. In the top-left corner within the Marketplace tab, select the filter dropdown and choose from the six asset filter categories: Models (default), Decals, Audio, Video, Meshes, and Plugins.
  3. Select the filter icon. Filter icon. The Creator filter and Sort By option displays.
  4. Enter a specific creator’s username within the Search for users field. At the bottom of the pop-up, click the Apply button.
  5. In the Search field, type anything you would like to find and select the search icon.

To find assets on the Roblox site:

  1. Follow the steps to access Developer Marketplace.

  2. In the top-right corner within the Library tab, select the filter
    dropdown and choose from the six asset filter categories: Models (default), Decals, Audio, Video, Meshes, and Plugins.

  3. In the Creators section within the vertical navigation, filter by either All Creators (default) or Roblox, or enter a specific creator’s username within the Name field.

  4. In the search field, type anything you would like to find and press Enter.

Sorting Asset Results

Using the sorting options, you can find more relevant results for your development needs.

Via Roblox Studio

To sort asset results with Roblox Studio:

  1. Follow the steps to access Developer Marketplace.
  2. In the top-right corner within the Marketplace tab, select the filter icon. Filter icon. The Creator filter and Sort By option displays.
  3. Choose from the five sort options:
  • Relevance (default) - Prioritizes assets that Developer Marketplace believes are the most relevant to your set filters.
  • Most Taken - Prioritizes assets that other users have used/purchased the most.
  • Favorites - Prioritizes assets that are popular with other users through the favorite function.
  • Updated - Prioritizes assets that have been recently updated.
  • Ratings - Prioritizes assets with high ratings.
  1. At the bottom of the pop-up, click the Apply button.

Developer Marketplace sorts the assets according to your specifications.

To sort asset results on the Roblox site:

  1. Follow the steps to access Developer Marketplace.
  2. Near the top-right corner within the Library tab, select the Sort by dropdown and choose from the following options:
  • Relevance (default) - Prioritizes assets that Developer Marketplace believes are the most relevant to your set filters.
  • Most Favorited - Prioritizes assets that are popular with other users through the favorite function.
  • Bestselling - Prioritizes assets that other users have used/purchased the most.
  • Recently Updated - Prioritizes assets that have been recently updated.
  1. If you selected Most Favorited or Bestselling, an additional Sort by dropdown displays. Make an additional choice from the three additional sort options: All Time (default), Past Week, and Past Day.

Developer Marketplace sorts the assets according to your specifications.

Adding Assets to an Experience

Now that you have found the assets you’re looking for within Developer Marketplace, it’s time to add them to your experience.

Via Roblox Studio

There are two ways to add assets to your experience with Roblox Studio: within the Marketplace tab of the Toolbox, or within the Asset Manager.

Via Toolbox

To add assets to your experience through the Marketplace tab of the Toolbox:

  1. Follow the steps to find the asset you want to add to your experience.
  2. Either click or drag-and-drop the asset from the Toolbox into the Game Editor window.

The asset is now available in your experience and displays in the Explorer window within Roblox Studio.

Via Asset Manager

To add assets to your experience through the Asset Manager:

  1. Open an experience in Roblox Studio. If the Asset Manager window is open, skip step 2.
  2. Navigate to the View tab and select Asset Manager. The Asset Manager window displays.
  3. Navigate through any applicable folders to the asset you would like to add to your experience.
  4. Double-click on the asset.

The asset is now available in your experience and displays in the Explorer window within Roblox Studio.

Via Web

To add assets to your experience through the Roblox site:

  1. Follow the steps to find the asset you want to add to your experience.
  2. Select the asset. A new page with details about the asset displays.
  3. Select the Get button. The Get Item window displays.
  4. Select the Get Now button. The page refreshes, the Get button changes to an Inventory button, and a green checkmark displays alongside the asset with an Item Owned status.

The asset is now available in the Inventory tab in the horizontal navigation on the Roblox site, as well as the Inventory tab of the Toolbox within Roblox Studio. You can now follow the steps to add an asset to an experience via the Toolbox, but remember to navigate to the Inventory tab instead of the Marketplace tab.

Publishing an Asset

You can publish all asset types for free in the Developer Marketplace.

Via Roblox Studio

To publish an asset through Roblox Studio:

  1. In the Explorer window, navigate to the asset you would like to publish.
  2. Right-click on the asset. A pop-up menu displays.
  3. Click on the Save to Roblox… menu item. The Asset Configuration dialog displays.
  4. In the Title field, type a title for your asset.
  5. In the Description field, type a description for your asset that will help describe what it is.
  6. In the Creator dropdown menu, select the creator you would like to attribute as the creator of the asset. If you are using Team Create, every developer will be a menu item, otherwise “Me” is the only option.
  7. In the Genre dropdown menu, select a genre that you would like to designate for your asset.
  8. If you would like to allow every Roblox user the ability to use your asset in the Developer Marketplace, enable the Allow Copying toggle. If you don’t enable this toggle, the asset is only added to the Inventory tab of the Toolbox.
  9. If you would like to allow every Roblox user the ability to comment on your asset, enable the Allow Comments toggle.
  10. Select the Submit button.

Your model is now available on Developer Marketplace.
